What is Mira
We're excited to introduce Mira, an automated machine learning research scientist built for algorithmic discovery.
Mira is designed to invent entirely new models and architectures, not just tune or ensemble existing ones.
Offline benchmarks like MLE-Bench are useful, but can’t capture the volatility of a live leaderboard or the challenge of competing on a completely out-of-distribution problem. At Autoscience, we believe that one of the most critical tests for an AI Scientist is its performance in the wild.
So, we entered Mira – a system powered by our Automated Academic Researcher Carl and works without human intervention beyond an initial setup – into a live $50k Kaggle competition. Through iterative improvements, Mira has climbed to a Bronze Medal position, currently live on the leaderboard.
But we are just getting started: we're aiming to reach much stronger performance and lower the human set-up time to near-zero.
